Dear Members and Visitors,

Welcome to the Melaka Branch of The Institution of Engineers, Malaysia (IEM).

It is my great honor to be elected as the Chairman of The Institution of Engineers, Malaysia (IEM) for Melaka Branch for the session 2024 - 2026, which plays a key role in fostering professional growth and strengthening the engineering community at the branch level.

I would like to take this opportunity to express my appreciation to all Past Chairmen for their outstanding leadership, as well as to our committee members, advisors, volunteers and sponsors for their significant contributions to our branch.

As part of the esteemed IEM network, our branch remains committed to supporting engineers in their pursuit of excellence. With a strong and growing membership base, we strive to create opportunities for knowledge sharing, collaboration, and innovation that address the unique challenges and aspirations of our local engineering community.

Through our initiatives and programs, we aim to unite engineers by offering platforms for technical advancement, professional development, and meaningful societal engagement. By strengthening mechanisms for collaboration, we have connected more meaningfully with members and external stakeholders, enhancing our ability to grow and maintain a resilient and dynamic network. Thank you for attending our events, for leading with dedication, and for supporting the leadership of others, as we continue to build on past successes and fortify the resilience of our profession and community.

This year, in conjunction with World Tourism Day, our branch embraces the theme "WHERE ENGINEERING MEETS TOURISM: A RESILIENT MELAKA FOR ALL." This theme reflects our commitment to leveraging engineering expertise to support and enhance the vibrant tourism industry of Melaka. As a UNESCO World Heritage City, Melaka represents a unique blend of historical charm and modern innovation—an ideal platform where engineering solutions can drive sustainability, resilience, and economic growth.

For countless years, we have maintained a successful collaboration with the Technology of Malaysia (TAM), Melaka Branch—an initiative to foster professional growth, build stronger relationships, and encourage meaningful engagement with other branches, technical societies, and stakeholders. This collaboration has enhanced our capacity to deliver events and services that better support our members and broader networks.

I strongly encourage all members to actively engage in the activities and events organized by the branch. Your participation plays a crucial role in cultivating a vibrant, inclusive, and forward-thinking engineering community—one that thrives on collaboration, shared vision and expertise, and mutual support. Together, we can strengthen the foundations of professional growth, foster meaningful connections, and contribute to the advancement of the engineering profession in our region and beyond.

For students, I strongly encourage you to become a part of the regional branch of this professional community—a platform designed to empower Malaysia's next generation of engineers. By joining, you will gain access to invaluable tools, unwavering support, and extensive networks that will not only help you succeed but also pave the way for your ideal career in engineering.

As the 2025 Chairwoman, I have taken a firm stance this year on upholding branch conduct and promoting appropriate behavior. By setting new expectations and fostering a culture rooted in respect and integrity, we aim to ensure the highest standards of professionalism within our branch.
